Today was the last day of our "vacation" in Waikiki. Tomorrow Jon has to go back to work, and I have to get to the apartment. I wish there was something for me to do there like unpack, clean, etc. We don't have much to unpack yet since our stuff hasn't arrived. I don't have anything to clean with. I'll probably walk the 1 mile to the Wal-Mart and get as much as I can carry back. The rest of the time I'll probably just hang out by the pool. Yeah, I know, terrible life I have.
We spent most of our day at the beach. Weather.com promised me a high of 78 degrees and abundant sunshine so I was excited to get going on my tan. It wasn't as sunny though, we still had to put up with the periodic clouds hiding the sun. Our spot on the beach today was in front of the historic Moana Surfrider Hotel. We walked through the hotel the other day and it is just a beautiful hotel. It it definitely what I think of when I think of "paradise". We saw 2 weddings taking place in the little courtyard of the hotel right by the beach. There were many tourists hovering around to watch the wedding and congratulate the couples. We also finally made it into the water. I'd been staying away because it is sooo cold, but once we got in it was a lot of fun. You have to go pretty far out to get to where you can't touch. We still didn't make it out far enough before we were kind of in surfing territory. I think I want to learn how to surf. It looks like a lot of fun.
After we'd had enough sun we decided to head out to look for dinner. We walked through the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center which is a big shopping area between the hotels along the beach. The big hotels like the Moana, Sheraton, and Royal Hawaiian. It was so, so pretty. If you want to do Hawaii right I'd imagine those are the hotels you'd want to stay in. We ended up going to this Italian restaurant that had a free spaghetti dinner with the order of an entree. That's my kind of restaurant lol. I feel so, so bad because Jon wants to try all these crazy foods that I just have no interest in.
So the real world of Hawaii starts tomorrow. Hopefully I survive. Hopefully I find a job....
